Hit the Flea Market Circuit and Make Money

June 20th, 2010 No comments

A flea market is an open air market where second hand or discounted items are sold or swapped. The word “flea market” comes from the French word “Marche aux Puces,” literally meaning market with fleas. The term was given to markets where the buyers and sellers were very active and jumped around like fleas in order to make money.

Everyone loves to make money and everyone loves a bargain. Making money at flea markets is a fun way to make a buck but it takes some thought and planning to be successful. Flea Markets are more than a one day yard sale. They are typically held weekly or monthly, year round or seasonally. Vendors sell an item or several items rather than whatever they pull out of their basement or garage. Vendors may be craft people selling homemade candles, table clothes, gloves and mittens, watches or whatever inventory they may create. Vendors may also buy inventory from a store gone out of business or a store that is clearing out the old to make way for the new. It is possible to buy such items relatively inexpensively and with a small mark up still sell below market rate but you can still make money. Other vendors study the market and determine what the hot item is and load up on that item. Sometimes buying in bulk is the way to make money.

To get started making money at Flea Markets, look in the newspaper for flea markets in your area. Your area will be limited by how far you want to travel. Check out the flea markets and determine the busiest. Walk through the flea markets and check out what is being sold. You may not want to show up to sell at a flea market and find multiple vendors with the same thing. To make money at a flea market requires creativity with your product and what you call them. If you were selling rain coats you may advertise them as Mother Nature Splash Guards. That will catch shopper’s attention. A customer may not want a rain coat but just has to have a Mother Nature Splash Guard. Caching, equals making money.

Be knowledgeable about your product or products. You have a better chance of making a sale and making money if you can enlighten a potential customer about your product, especially if your product is somewhat unique. Do some prep work and come up with questions you may be asked and have answers ready. Maybe even print up an FAQ sheet about your product customers can look at. Make sure you have your contact information on the sheet.

Set up your display as attractively as possible. If your table is eye catching because of neatness, you have a better chance of attracting customers. A customer that stops at your table is a potential buyer and when it comes to making money you want as many potential’s as possible. If you have a canopy over your table, decorate it with some brightly colored, eye catching ornaments of some type. Post a trivia question and let folks answer it.

Flea Market Secrets Of The Rich And Famous

May 28th, 2010 No comments

Have you ever wondered how some flea market vendors seem to build strong businesses, with high profit margins, and strong sales?

The answer to their success might surprise you.

Instead of their success being based on an esoteric formula, the real truth is actually deceivingly simple.

The reason successful flea market vendors make money is because they understand their customers.

Understanding your customers is actually the answer to success in any type of business situation.
Once you understand the needs and wants of your customers you will be able to better serve them.

But the problem that arises is that most flea market vendors proceed to overlook the obvious and think too deeply when it comes to their customers.

They forget that their customers are guided by a very simple set of desires.

Here is a sample of important elements that constitute the reasons customers shop at flea markets.

Flea Market Customer Desire #1

Saving money. Yes, most flea market customers visit flea markets simply to save money.
They know that they can buy most of what they need at the local Wal Mart or Dollar General.
This type of customer is simply shopping at a flea market to save money.

Present the customer with substantial savings and you will have a good repeat buyer.

Flea Market Customer Desire #2

Entertainment. Okay, a flea market might not be the most exciting event, but believe me that plenty of people are excited to see what they can discover there.
If you want to sell to this type of flea market customer you will need to have items such as
collectibles, DVD movies, CDs, comic books, and other entertainment related items.

Flea Market Customer Desire #3

Exporting. Yes, you read that right. Many flea market customers are looking for inexpensive items to send back home, either for their families or for business purposes.
To sell to this type of customer you will need high end merchandise at below wholesale prices.

Selling at Flea Markets – An Easy, Steady Source of Cash Each Weekend

May 20th, 2010 No comments

The Small Business Administration estimates that 95% of all new small businesses close their doors within the first year. That doesn’t sound very encouraging. How would you like to start your own business that is almost 100% guaranteed to succeed? How would you like to sell at flea markets?

I am talking about starting an actual business, your own flea market and swap meet business, of course. It’s a very easy business to start compared to a brick and mortar business in a strip mall.

There is no long-term lease to sign, no long search for the right location, no large expense for fixtures and shelves, no utilities to pay for and no need to spend thousands of dollars before you open the doors and make your first dollar.

There are no employees, no employee payroll taxes and no workman’s comp to pay.

You can start a flea market business with a lot less financial risk and trouble. Most can be started with less than $1,000. I started mine with only $200 and have made as much as a thousand dollars in only one day.

This business is nothing more than a proprietorship owned and operated by just one or two people. It operates on a basic concept: buy merchandise at the lowest price and sell it for more than your cost.

Many vendors sell used items. The more successful vendors sell brand new merchandise, many times the same items you’ve seen on the shelves in K-Mart or Target.

Selling new items means you can always order more for next weekend. Not so with used items.

Selling is as easy as saying hello to someone when they walk up to your table. Be helpful and friendly and you will make money.

The majority of flea market vendors buy their merchandise from import companies who sell to them at wholesale prices. It is also possible to buy items on sale from retail stores and sell them at the flea market for more than your cost.

Arrive at the market early in the morning on Saturday, rent a space and set your merchandise on the table. Selling is as easy as just saying hello or good morning to people when they walk over to look at what you have.

Merchandise will be your largest expense, perhaps 90% of your investment. Space rent is minimal, as little as $5 a day to as much as $50-$75 a day. The average costs are usually around $25 per space per day.

It is quite easy to double and triple your money at flea markets and swap meets. Buying your merchandise at the lowest cost allows you to sell it for two to three times that cost and still keep your prices less than retail stores.

In the beginning, put all of the profit back into your business by buying as much merchandise as you can afford for the next weekend. After doing so for a month or two, you will be able to begin keeping the profit for yourself without hurting your business. It will become self-sustaining.

You will discover that a flea market or swap meet business is easy and affordable to establish, easy to operate and can provide you a good steady income each weekend.

Earn Extra Income – How to Make Money Selling at Flea Markets

April 22nd, 2010 No comments

Do you need extra money and want tips on making more?  You have definitely come to the right place.  Flea markets are a definite and sure way to earn some extra cash.  They can be very fun, and you can meet many different people.

Before you decide to begin your new venture, think of what you desire to sell and where you would get these items.  An excellent choice to find items to sell is right in your own home.  You definitely don’t have to invest into a product.  So, go ahead and do some cleaning and pick out old or new things from your basement, attic, living room, bedroom, or wherever you see things you feel you won’t be using anymore.  Those items are only going to continue to sit around the house and collect dust.

If your desire is to invest in your flea market business, storage auctions would be an excellent investment.  Storage auctions are held once or twice a month due to people renting the storage unit and not paying their monthly rental payment.  Therefore, everything in that person’s rental space is then auctioned off to the highest bidder.  Once the auction begins, the owner of the storage unit cannot gain possession of any of their things.  Lots of people at these auctions have won units containing nice televisions, jewelry, washing machines, etc for very cheap.  It is no surprise to win a storage unit for under $100 or $200.  Try searching in the yellow pages of your local phone book under storage; call them and ask them when the next auction is.

Let’s not forget wholesale companies and distributors as a means of investing and reselling.  Google and yahoo search engines are very popular internet tools to seek out information.  Type in wholesale companies in either one of the search engines to see desired results.  You can also key in flea market items wholesale.

Most flea markets are open on Saturday and Sunday.  Some are open on Thursday and Friday as well.  If interested in when and what time they open in your area, do a Google search on flea markets, then type in your city name or state.

To begin your day at the flea market, you want to start setting up as soon as the market opens.  Many customers love shopping at the flea markets early in hopes that they can purchase things before they’re gone.  Renting the space, tables, or booths are fairly inexpensive.  In many cases, the prices to rent can range between $8.00 and $30.00 depending on the flea market.  Most of the time, flea markets provide tables for you, but still bring your own fold up tables.

Don’t forget to make deals.  If your prices are too high, many times the customer will walk away seeking out better deals.  If you quote a price that is too high, the customer may try to talk you down to a lower price.  This is ok because this is how you would make money in the flea markets.  People are there looking for bargains and deals.

My husband and I sell at the flea market almost every weekend.  By making people deals, we sold most of our inventory.  We profit between $100 and $700 per weekend.

Money can be a little tight these days, and thinking of a plan b is a necessity.  With lots of prayer, dedication, and persistence, this task can be quite simple.  Selling at a flea market can be just the answer.  It’s fun, easy, and you can definitely earn a lot of cash.

Making Money With eBay Wholesale Dropshippers

April 19th, 2010 No comments

You should know by now that there are a lot of people making a ton of money on eBay. There are literally thousands making a full time income just from eBay alone. The question you may be asking yourself at this point is, “how are those people doing it?”. This article will explain exactly how people are making consistent income from eBay.

Let me get straight to the point. To answer the question of how many are making a living from eBay is this. They found and use eBay wholesale dropshippers. eBay wholesale dropshippers are companies that work with eBay sellers offering them wholesale products that can be sold for a profit. This is the key to having success on eBay.

Where to find eBay wholesale dropshippers?

This can be somewhat tricky. The thing that you want to make sure of is that the wholesale companies that you deal with have a good reputation, and even more importantly, have a good reputation with eBay. You also need to make sure that your wholesale company is indeed a dropship company. A dropship company is a company that will deliver your customers products to their address for you; making it easier for you to do business with your customers. Using eBay wholesale dropshippers will make you look a lot more professional as opposed to not using one. Do some research online to find wholesale dropshippers that you can use with eBay. You can start by doing a simple google search for” eBay wholesale dropshippers“.

How to use these companies?

The easiest way to make money on eBay with these dropshippers is to find out what is hot on eBay, and then find which one of your dropshippers carry that product at the lowest price; then list it on eBay. Make sure that you list the product for a reasonable price. Look to make anywhere between $5-$20 profit per sale. That might not seem like a lot, but when you start selling 40 to 50 items a week, that money will start to add up fast.

Closing statements

The secret behind eBay success is eBay wholesale dropshippers. This is the difference between those that make $100 a month on eBay, and those that make $1,000 a month on eBay. Take a little time to find wholesale dropshippers that provide quality products and service. Once you have these in place you can begin enjoying your new profitable eBay business.

Flea Markets: Strategies For Making Money At Flea Markets

April 19th, 2010 No comments

Flea markets are great places to make some extra money on the weekends, or to even make enough money to supplement a lost job.

As part of my wholesale business I once sold at flea markets, and now supply flea market vendors with wholesale products.

Based on my experience, and feedback from flea market vendors, I have come up with a list of strategies for making money at flea markets.

These strategies require you to apply them to the flea markets that you sell at. You might want to make modifications based on the shoppers at your flea market, and the products which you sell.

Strategy #1

Always have a large quantity of merchandise at your booth. People are attracted to quantity, so if you want customers to come to your booth, make sure your booth looks fully stocked up.

Strategy #2

Variety is the key for your flea market business. Your customers are looking for more than one item. The more products you offer them, the more that they can buy from you.

Strategy #3

Always price your items so that multiple purchases receive a discount. Your goal should be to sell out your merchandise at the end of the day. You can always reorder, so why not sell out?
As long as you make a profit on the sale, always encourage your customers to buy more by giving them a lower price.

Strategy #4

Set up your flea market merchandise so that your booth looks like a professional business. If you treat your booth like it’s a real store, so will your customers.

Strategy #5

Have a flyer printed up with your business name, booth number, and merchandise offered. Enclose a flyer in each customer’s bag, this way they will remember you and come back next week.

How to Drop Ship Like the Pros

April 19th, 2010 No comments

Drop shipping has become an extremely popular way to make money online. It’s combination of low startup costs and unlimited earning potential make it a great option for individuals who want to start a business but don’t want a take a lot of risks. While drop shipping seems simple, it’s actually difficult to be successful at it. The popularity of it has made it competitive and a prime target for scammers and middlemen. Here are some simple tips that can help you succeed in drop shipping.

1) Avoid Middlemen
This seems obvious but its actually hard to do. The search engines are littered with these guys and sometimes its hard to know who’s who. Most of the sites you find on the first few pages of Google are middlemen who make money by getting in between you and the real wholesale source. They often charge monthly fees on top of marking up the “wholesale” pricing. Many of these sites are actually owned by the same companies or are affiliates of other companies. ProductSourcing.com for instance, is affiliated with Doba and offers the same product line. You’ll find these products all over eBay and the web selling for less than your wholesale cost.

2) Differentiate Yourself
If you want to make money in drop shipping you have to differentiate yourself. This means doing some initial research before getting started. If you go out there and sign up for the first most convenient drop shipping service you find, you’re guaranteed to be buried with competition. If you found your source on the first few pages of a search engine, chances are everyone else found it too. This means you have thousands of competitors selling the same generic merchandise as you for the same price. Good luck making money.

3) Market Your Business
Most people seem to think you can just list products for sale online and people will buy them. This is dead wrong. The net is very competitive and is full of comparison shoppers. If they can find the same thing elsewhere, they will. You need to know exactly how you’re going to get your products in front of customers, and I don’t mean just listing them on eBay.

You can make good money dropshipping but its more complex than just signing up for Doba and listing your products on eBay. Like any other business, you need a solid business plan and some persistence if you want to succeed.

Make Money on eBay – Wholesale Prices = Wholesale Quantities

April 19th, 2010 No comments

One of the most important activities for all eBay sellers is locating products that they can resell on eBay. Those products must fall into the right market niches, they must be readily available, and they must be priced so that a profit can be made. After all the sellers’ businesses are being operated to make money on eBay.

Yet locating suppliers that will provide pricing that allows for a profit can be a real challenge. There are some simple truths about wholesale suppliers. One of those truths is that to buy at their lowest prices, wholesalers will expect eBay sellers to make purchases of larger quantities of items.

For many eBay sellers the quantity requirements will simply be too great. The wholesaler will expect so many to be purchased that the eBay seller will be unable to make the purchase.

Limitations might be in the total dollar investment required to purchase the items. It might be in the total quantity and the storage that comes with that quantity. It might be the estimated size of the market and concerns about being able to sell out of the items. No matter what the reason, many sellers will simply be unable to make the purchase. That puts them in the position of being unable to make money on eBay because they have no products to sell.

The good news is that there are other options. The first option should be to renegotiate the order size. Possibly the wholesaler will accept a smaller order for little or no change in price. Possibly the order can remain at the same price, but will be split between you and other buyers who are in the same situation. Possibly the order can be split into two shipments that come weeks apart if storage is the problem.

When all options have been exhausted with that supplier, move on to other wholesalers. Keep looking and you may just find the right supplier to help you make money on eBay.

Have Junk? Make Money at Flea Markets!

April 19th, 2010 No comments

Whether you just want to unload some junk and have some fun or turn a stall into real money, the flea market could be the way to go. If you’re interested in the latter it is important to shift your thinking to the business mode. We’ll take a look at a few steps to take to make money at flea markets and brighten your income picture. First let’s move from hobby thinking to business thinking.

OK, people look at flea markets for things and assortments they don’t normally see in stores. So, if you’re selling artwork you’ll want to display paintings, carvings, figurines, crafts and other items those interested in art would be interested in. Have a full stall, it’s your store front and you need to look like you’re in business! Don’t change your prices one they are set. But, if you feel as though changing a price may make a sale (while still making a profit) you can do that verbally with the customer. You may want to offer a special. If so, mark the special clearly as a sale item. You may want to consider offering discounts on multiple purchases, as well.

Remember, flea market browsers are looking for bargains, but be sure you can offer the bargains and still make money. Have fliers printed showing what items you sell, contact details and the location of your stall. Have these as handouts at your stall, and include one with purchases.
You’ll be surprised at how many people make money at flea markets. Remember to present your products professionally and priced for profit. Then have fun!

How to Drop Ship – Learning About the Quickest Way to Earn Money

April 19th, 2010 No comments

I’m always up for attending a seminar on learning about the quickest way to earn money. A few years ago I went to a seminar that taught how to drop ship. I was really impressed with the returns they promised, and even more impressed when I saw the results for myself.

The process is really simple. The first thing you need to do is find a good drop shipping company. These types of businesses have been around for a long time and it’s easy to find one that has a proven track record of offering excellent service.

Once you’ve found the right company for you, you’ll need to check out their available inventory to see what you’d like to sell. This was one of the best parts of the process for me. It’s exciting to think you could sell pretty much anything you can think of. I know book worms who’ve set up great businesses selling books and tech geeks who’ve made their business selling the newest gadgets. Whatever your hobbies, it’s likely you can find a way to sell merchandise that relates to it.

After you’ve decided on your product line, you’ll need to either set up your own webiste or utilize the numerous retail sites out there that will allow you to partner with them. This will take a little bit of initial research but once you’ve got your partnerships set up, future orders will be a breeze.

As your orders come in, all you have to do is forward them to the drop ship company. They will do all the work of fulfilling the order and ensuring it gets to your customer in a timely manner. You can see how learning how to drop ship is one of the quickest ways to earn money.
